Embroideries & Prints

The coolest label on the market right now is without a doubt Bebaroque, which brightens up our lives with their embellished tights as well as bodies and other legwear. I just love everything about this label and the tights with embroideries and prints which can make a whole outfit stand out from the crowd. I first spotted these tight on Susy Bubble in a post by Antwerp Fashion Observer. She was wearing a black pair with gold and black embellishments in a mixture of beads, pearls and stones. Wanting a pair of my own I decided to find out more about this label.

To my delight (not surprise) it is run by two women – Mhairi McNicol and Chloe Patienlabel – who started Bebaroque in July 2007 after completing their BA(hons) in Textiles at the Glasgow School of Art and then went off separately to gain Master degrees in Textiles and Fashion.

On their website they write: “With Mhairi's elaborate hand embroidery and Chloe's intricate drawing skills upon hosiery, a truly innovative design process was developed.” And I cannot agree more. This is all I’ve been looking for for years. I love when fashion is made out of a simple garment with intricate details which then gives an in-your-face impression fronting an outfit of any kind. And I love when women start their own businesses in fashion and when they succeed. More female fashion graduates should dare to do the same at some point throughout their career in fashion.

  1. These are so fun! I'm a HUGE fan of interesting hosiery (I'm addicted to Wolford and Emilio Cavallini) and will definitely be adding Bebaroque to my list. Thanks for sharing!
